Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP)
Students can apply for full-time or part-time OSAP funding for studies during the summer term.
There are programs offered by ³ÉÈË´óƬ that are not approved for OSAP (full-time or part-time).
As a Queen's student, you have lots of options for financial aid.
Minimum Academic Load Requirements
To be eligible for full-time funding during the summer term, a student must be enrolled in at least a 60% academic load, or a 40% academic load for students with a permanent disability.
There is a minimum number of credit units for the May-June, May-July, and July-August sessions a student must be registered in to be eligible for OSAP funding. Students taking fewer credit units than those outlined are not eligible for full-time OSAP assistance.
Part-time OSAP is available for students enrolled in less than a 60% academic load or a 40% academic load for students with a permanent disability.

Students taking courses over the May-July session, (or a combination of a course(s) in May-July, May-June, and/or July-August) have the following options:
- Students without a fall/winter OSAP application processed through ³ÉÈË´óƬ must complete a new online and choose the appropriate 2026 summer program.
- Students with a fall/winter OSAP application processed through ³ÉÈË´óƬ are encouraged to complete the OSAP Summer Term Extension form.
- Submit the form only if you are registered full-time for the summer term.
- Changes to course enrolment or academic load may affect your OSAP funding entitlement or eligibility.
Students entering the Consecutive Education Program in May who wish to apply for OSAP should refer to the Consecutive Education section of the Specific Student Groups page for instructions on applying.
Receiving Your Funding
If you are assessed to receive OSAP funding during the summer term, Financial Aid and Awards will update your OSAP account accordingly. You will receive an email from the Ministry of Colleges and Universities indicating that your OSAP has been reassessed and that you should check your online OSAP account to review the changes to your entitlement.
- OSAP funding is electronically deposited into your bank account (as provided on the Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA))
- If you have already received your OSAP funding electronically during the fall/winter term, you will receive one instalment of your OSAP funding during the summer term
In accepting OSAP assistance you agree to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Colleges and Universities regarding academic progress. You must successfully complete a 60% academic load (or 40% of an academic load for students with a permanent disability) to continue to be eligible for OSAP funding.
More information regarding OSAP academic progress requirements is available under Eligibility. Please contact Financial Aid and Awards if you have any questions regarding this policy.
