- If you are selected to receive a General Bursary the name of your bursary may be amended to a named general bursary. Only the name of your award will change; the value of your General Bursary assistance will not change depending on the name of the award
If you demonstrate financial need based on your application, but do not qualify for a named general bursary, you will be granted assistance through a general pooled fund.

ACC Bursary

The Gordon and Myrtle Adams Bursary
Established in 1954 by the Estate of Lila Wilson and last revised in September 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Applications are to be made to the Office of the University Registrar, Student Awards.
ATF Bursaries for the Disabled
Through contributions from student activity fees from 1989-1993 the Accessibility Task Force has established bursaries for undergraduate students with disabilities. To be eligible for this assistance, students must be registered with Queen's Student Accessibility Services.
AMS Accessibility Queen's Bursary
Established in September 2007 and revised in May 2015 by the Alma Mater Society and awarded on the basis of financial need with a first preference to students with who self- identify as a person with a disability, and who are not eligible for funding through the OSAP Bursary for Students with Disabilities. The bursary will help with the costs associated with adaptive technology, transportation costs, etc. If there remains funding available after the first preference has been fully considered then the bursary may be granted on the basis of financial need to students with a disability. Students may be referred to Financial Aid and awards by Queen's Student Accessibility Services or apply directly through Financial Aid and Awards.
AMS Membership Bursary
Established in October 2014 by the Alma Mater Society, and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Alma Mater Society (AMS) members.
AMS Sesquicentennial Bursaries
Established in 1990 by the Alma Mater Society of ˴Ƭ. Awarded to students in any faculty or school with preference given to single parents with day care expenses.
Anna Jean and Ross Baker Award
Established from a bequest by Edward Ross Baker in memory of his mother, Anna Jean Baker, and awarded to a student in any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ on the basis of satisfactory academic standing and financial need.
Ballik Indigenous Bursary
Established in January 2022 by Dr. Edward A. Ballik, BSc ’59, and Woon-Ngor Ballik. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Indigenous students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
E. Stanley and Nadine M. Beacock Bursary
Established by E. Stanley Beacock, Arts 1942, and Nadine M. Beacock and awarded on the basis of financial need to students in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ.
The Leonard G. Berry Memorial Bursary
Established in April 1983 by family, colleagues, friends, and former students in memory of Professor Leonard G. Berry, professor of mineralogy at ˴Ƭ from 1944 to 1980, as a tribute to his outstanding contribution to mineralogical science and his devotion as a teacher. Last revised in July 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to students with an academic plan offered by the Department of Geological Sciences and Geological Engineering. Hugh and Bernie Bedore Bursary
Established by the family of Hugh and Bernie Bedore, whose family business close to Queen's was of valued service to the Queen's community. Awarded to a student on the basis of financial need. Preference will be given to a student who has had experience or involvement in the retail industry.
Agnes Benidickson Bursary
Established in October 1998 by the Alma Mater Society through student donations and Project Millenium in honour of the Chancellor Emeritus, Agnes Benidickson. Last revised in July 2024 and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Board of Trustees Bursary
Established through donations by the Board of Trustees of ˴Ƭ and awarded on the basis of financial need to a student in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ.
Patricia Bogstad Bursary
Established by colleagues and friends on the occasion of Patricia Bogstad's retirement from ˴Ƭ to honour her many years of valued service. Awarded on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate student in any faculty or school.
Amma Bonsu Bursary for International Students
Established in October 2020 by Amma Bonsu, BA 2002, BA (Hons) 2003, and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to international students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to students who are citizens of a country in Africa.
James Boyd Keddie Memorial Bursaries
Established in accordance with the wishes of the late James Luke Keddie. Awarded on the basis of financial need with preference given to students from the City of Oshawa and surrounding area who intend to enter the teaching profession.
James & Mary Young Allardyce Brough Award
Established in March 1970 by the Estate of Thomas Allardyce Brough, in memory of his parents James and Mary Young Allardyce Brough, and last revised in January 2020. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic achievement to a student in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Dr. James Brown MacDougall Bursaries
Awarded on the basis of need to upper-year undergraduate students.
Robert Bruce Bursaries
The will of the late Robert Bruce of Quebec provided for an annual sum to be given in bursaries to "students of promising ability but straitened circumstances." Money from this fund is disbursed annually to one or more students in the third or later years in any faculty.
Beatrice Bryce Memorial Bursary
Established in April 1988 by family, colleagues, friends, and former students of the late Beatrice Bryce (BA (University of Toronto)), Dean of Women at ˴Ƭ from 1959 to 1971, and a member of the Department of English. Last revised in September 2023. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Applications are to be made to the Office of the University Registrar, Financial Aid and Awards.
Ontario-Ukraine Solidarity Scholarship
Established in October 2022 by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities support of students affected by the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic achievement to Ukrainian students in any year of any degree program in any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. If there are insufficient qualified Ukrainian students, then students who have been impacted by other conflicts and/or been forcibly displaced will be considered.
Dr. Ronald Calderisi Memorial Bursary
Established in September 2007 by Anna Crocco in memory of her husband Dr. Ronald Calderisi who was a surgeon at the Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory, Ontario prior to his death. Awarded on the basis of financial need to Indigenous students in any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to students in any program of studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences. If in any year there are no eligible Indigenous students the bursary will be granted to undergraduate students in either the School of Medicine or School of Nursing.
Dr. Rosemary Ofei-Aboagye King Award
Established in September 2022 by Amma Bonsu, BA 2002, BA (Hons) 2003, in memory of Dr. Rosemary Ofei-Aboagye King. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need and academic achievement to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to Black Canadian students.
Caldwell Bursary
Established in November 2003 by Gregor Caldwell, B.Com. 1964, and awarded on the basis of financial need to full-time students in the second, third, or fourth year in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ.
Campbell Memorial Bursaries
Established by the children of Milton Neil Campbell and Hazel May Campbell (Dixon). Awarded on the basis of financial need to students who have completed at least one year of studies at ˴Ƭ. Preference given to student(s) from Saskatchewan.
J.E. Hawley Memorial Bursary
Established in September 1995 by Alban H. Norton (BA (Hons.) 1936) in memory of J.E. Hawley, former Head of the Department of Geological Sciences. Last revised in September 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Applications are to be made to the Office of the University Registrar, Financial Aid and Awards.
Helen Richards Campbell Award
Established in April 1999 and revised in March 2019 by the Campbell family in memory of Helen Richards Campbell, who graduated from Queen's in 1978 at the age of 81. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given in the following order of priority: (i) to female students who have experienced an interruption in their formal education, (ii) to students enrolled in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Canadian Officers Training Corps (C.O.T.C.) Bursaries
Awarded on the basis of need to upper-year undergraduate students.
Canadian Union of Public Employees 1302 (CUPE 1302) Bursary
Established in April 2004 by Local 1302 of C.U.P.E. and awarded to an undergraduate student(s) in any program of studies at ˴Ƭ on the basis of demonstrated financial need. The bursary will be granted in the following order of priority: (1) relatives of full-time and/or part-time local 1302 members currently employed at ˴Ƭ; or (2) former members of local 1302; or (3) any undergraduate student in any program at ˴Ƭ.
Senator Frank Carrel Bursaries
Several bursaries are awarded annually on the basis of deemed need to students enrolled in any year in any program. Restricted to students domiciled in Quebec prior to enrolment at ˴Ƭ.
Cartwright-Duncan Trust Bursary
Established in April 2000 by the Estate of Kenneth Abdul Rouff in memory of Lewis Duncan Q.C. and Henry Cartwright. Last revised in July 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Indigenous students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
David F. and Sylvia L. Cassillis Award
Established in November 2000 from the estate of David Fleming Drummond Kennedy Cassillis and awarded to student(s) in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need, academic standing, and involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Jessie (Cameron) Chisholm Bursaries
Established in March 1994 by the Estate of Robert Findlay Chisholm in memory of his mother, Jessie Cameron (BA 1897) and last revised in September 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Churchill Bursary for International Students
Established in February 2018 by The Churchill Foundation and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to international students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Beatrice (Steuer) Cohen Award
Established in May 2007 by Mrs. Beatrice Steuer Cohen and awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to students in any Faculty or School who are challenged with a physical disability. Preference will be given to students with an impaired mobility. Students must be registered with Queen's Student Accessibility Services.
Harold Arthur Cohen Bursary
Established in May 2002 by the family in memory of Harold Arthur Cohen, B.A. 1928, B.Sc. 1930 (Engineering Physics). Awarded on the basis of financial need to an upper year student in any faculty or school who is challenged with a physical or perceptual disability. Preference will be given to students who have either a hearing or visual impairment. Students must be registered with Queen's Student Accessibility Services.
George and Lilian Coleman Taylor Bursary
A fund established by George Taylor and Lilian Coleman Taylor provides bursaries for competent but needy students from Leeds County registered in any faculty of the University.
Martha J. Crane Bursary
Established in March 2001 by Martha J. Crane, B.A.(Hon.) 1976, B.Ed. 1977, and awarded on the basis of financial need to an undergraduate student in any faculty or school. Preference will be given to a student from Elmira District Secondary School or from a high school in the Kitchener/Waterloo area.
Richard M. Dale Bursary
Established in March 1985 by family, friends, and former instructors in honour of Richard M. Dale (BSc (Hons) 1977), a distinguished graduate of ˴Ƭ and an outstanding scholar. Last revised in June 2022. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any degree program enrolled in an academic plan offered by the Department of Chemistry or the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Astronomy. Established by Mr. A. Ephraim Diamond, B.Sc. (Eng.) 1943 and awarded annually to full-time undergraduate students on the basis of financial need, satisfactory academic performance, leadership qualities, and involvement in extra-curricular activities.
Disabled Students' Bursaries
Established by the Alma Mater Society and Arts and Science '82 to assist disabled students attending ˴Ƭ. Awarded on the basis of need.
A. Vibert Douglas Bursaries
Established by friends and colleagues of A. Vibert Douglas, LL.D., Dean of Women from 1939 to 1959 and a pioneer in the teaching of astrophysics. Awarded on the basis of need to students in any Faculty or School, with preference given to women students.
John Farnham Memorial Bursary
Established by the Alma Mater Society of ˴Ƭ from a bequest from John Farnham, B.Sc.'66, M.B.A.'68, contributions from colleagues at Towers Perrin, family and friends. Awarded to a student in financial need who has demonstrated leadership in student government.
Rita Friendly Kaufman Memorial Award
Established in October 2006 by family and members of the Queen's Women's Association to honour the memory of Rita Friendly Kaufman, former President and a devoted member of the Queen's Women's Association for forty years. Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to female students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in any Faculty or School at Queen's for whom neither parent has attended a university.
David A. Gillies and Jessie Herchmer Gillies Bursaries
Awarded on the basis of academic proficiency and financial need with preference given to upper-year students.
Lin Good Bursary
Established by colleagues and friends of Lin Good on the occasion of her retirement from ˴Ƭ where she served as a librarian from 1959 to 1986 in a number of positions, including those of Associate Librarian and Acting Chief Librarian. Awarded to students in any faculty or school who are in need of financial assistance.
Florence Elizabeth Gray Salter Bursary

Laudanski Family Bursary

Indigenous Student Bursary - MTCU
Established in November 2009 and last revised in November 2018 by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Indigenous students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Iranian Student Memorial Scholarship
Established in February 2020 by ˴Ƭ in memory of Arts and Science student Amir Moradi and the 176 passengers and crew, including 57 Canadians, who were killed in the crash of Ukraine International Airlines flight PS 752 in Tehran, Iran. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Iranian students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Khaki University and Y.M.C.A. Memorial Fund
This fund is part of a sum left from the Khaki University after the First World War, which was divided among the Canadian universities. The interest is used to award one or more bursaries to undergraduate students in any faculty. In awarding these bursaries preference is given to returned men, or sons or daughters of soldiers of the World Wars.
Alice Kingdon Bursaries
Established by Mrs. Alice Kingdon of Brantford, Ontario. Awarded to students in any undergraduate faculty or school who are in need of financial assistance.
Padre and Frances Laverty Bursary
Established in October 2003 by family, friends, colleagues and other members of the Queen's family in recognition of the Lavertys' dedication and contribution to the University. Awarded on the basis of financial need to third or fourth year students in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated involvement in campus life and extracurricular activities.
Chancellor Jim Leech Bursary for Indigenous Students
Established in September 2017 by Chancellor Jim Leech, MBA 1973, and awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to Indigenous students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ.
Jim Leech – CFPDP Bursary
Established in May 2024 by Jim Leech in partnership with “A Seat at the Table,” a program of the Canadian Foundation for Physically Disabled Persons (CFPDP). Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students with a physical disability in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Applications are to be made to the Office of the University Registrar, Financial Aid and Awards.
Albert Harold Lightstone Bursary
Established in May 1979 by Esther Lightstone, in memory of her husband, Professor A.H. Lightstone. Last revised in July 2023. Alvera Salute Lundquist Memorial Bursary
Established in September 1995 by the Estate of Alvera Salute Lundquist and last revised in June 2022. Rory MacDonald Memorial Bursary
Established in October 2020 by family, friends, and classmates in memory of Rory MacDonald, BA 2012. Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need to students in any year of any undergraduate degree program at Queen’s University. Preference will be given to students who have completed or are enrolled in one or more Creative Writing courses offered by the Department of English Language and Literature.
J. Gordon MacKay Bursary
Established by John G. MacKay in memory of his father, J. Gordon MacKay, and awarded to a student in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need.
A.E. MacRae Bursaries
Established in memory of the late A.E. MacRae of Ottawa. Awarded to students in any undergraduate faculty or school on the basis of need.
Isabella MacRae Memorial Bursary
Established by Isabella MacRae of Saginaw, Michigan. Awarded on the basis of merit and need to male undergraduate students in any faculty or school.
Robert and Bella Martin Award
Established in December 2001 by Mr. R.J. Martin, B.A. 1948, M.Ed. 1960 (Toronto) and his wife, Mrs. Ismay Martin, in memory of Mr. Martin's parents, Robert and Bella Martin. Awarded at the discretion of the Bursary Committee to a student with at least second year standing in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ on the basis of financial need and demonstrated appreciation of the English language as exemplified by activities such as community service to Queen's libraries or local public libraries promoting reading, stories, or library services to young people, submissions to papers/journals, involvement in Queen's newspapers, or participation in debating teams at either intramural or university level. Preference will be given to students from rural and remote areas of Canada.
Reverend Dr. Alexander Dawson Matheson Award
Established by John Matheson in memory of The Reverend Dr. Alexander Dawson Matheson, B.D., M.A. (Queen's), D.D. (McGill), and awarded to an undergraduate student in any faculty or school on the basis of financial need.
Metis Award
Established by the Metis Nation of Ontario through the Metis Training Initiatives and awarded on the basis of financial need to a Metis student registered in any year in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ. A General Bursary application, along with a Metis verification form, should be submitted to the Associate University Registrar (Financial Aid and Awards) by 31 October. Selection will be made in consultation with the Metis Nation of Ontario.

Alison and I.G. Morgan Bursary
Established to honor the retirement of Alison and I.G. Morgan from Queen's, and awarded on the basis of financial need to a student in any year of any program.

Awarded on the basis of financial need and academic achievement to a second, third, or fourth year student in any faculty or school at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to Indigenous students.
Barbara Palk Award
Established in March 2016 in honour of Barbara Palk, Arts '73, to recognize her long-standing commitment to ˴Ƭ and her faithful service to the Board of Trustees (2002-2016) and the ˴Ƭ Initiative Campaign Cabinet (2009-2016). Awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, academic achievement, proven leadership skills, and involvement in school or community activities to students in any year of any Faculty or School at ˴Ƭ. Preference will be given to students enrolled in an Honours Plan in Economics in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Rehab Therapy Society Sesquicentennial Bursary
Established by the Rehab Therapy Society in 1990, in celebration of Queen's Sesquicentennial. The bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need to undergraduate and/or graduate students in any faculty who are challenged with a physical disability.

Alvera Salute Lundquist Memorial Bursary
Established in September 1995 by the Estate of Alvera Salute Lundquist and last revised in June 2022. Preference will be given to students in a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree program with an academic plan in Italian offered by the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures.

A bursary given by the Faculty Women's Club of ˴Ƭ in memory of the late Pauline Schubert, a former President of the Faculty Women's Club, to assist a female student.
Scotiabank Group Accessibility Bursaries
Established in October 2006 by the Scotiabank Group and awarded on the basis of financial need to students in any School or Faculty who have a disability and who are enrolled in a minimum of one credit per term (40% course load). Students must be currently registered with Queen's Student Accessibility Services.
Brian Sinnott Memorial Model United Nations Bursary
Established by the International Affairs Association of ˴Ƭ in memory of Brian Sinnott and awarded to members of the International Affairs Association on the basis of financial need to help defray costs associated with attending educational conferences supported by the Association. Preference will be given to the Model United Nations Conference. A bursary application, along with a letter of support from the Association, should be submitted to the Associate University Registrar (Financial Aid and Awards).

Established in March 2003 by The George and Mary Turnbull Foundation and awarded on the basis of financial need, academic achievement and extra-curricular activities to a second, third, or fourth year student in any program. Preference will be given to students studying in the areas of either english, history, politics, biology or marine biology in the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Van Nostrand/Holt Family Bursary
Established by Alison Holt, Arts 1987, former staff member in Alumni Affairs and Communications, and Innes van Nostrand, Science 1986, former Director of Alumni Affairs, as well as their friends at Queen's.
