Schulich Leader Scholarships

Established in March 2012 by Seymour Schulich and last revised in March 2021. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence, leadership, charisma, and creativity to entrepreneurial-minded students entering first year of Schulich eligible Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics degree programs (STEM) at Queen’s University. Strong consideration will be given to students with demonstrated financial need. The award is renewable for three years provided the student maintains full time enrolment status in an eligible STEM degree plan.  Applications are submitted according to the process defined by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.

  • Bachelor of Science (Honours)* OUAC program codes: QS, QIS only
    • *Excluding  admission, progression or transfer into Astrophysics, Biology, Biochemistry, Kinesiology and Health Studies, Environmental Sciences, Life Sciences, and Psychology after year 1
  • Bachelor of Computing (Honours)* OUAC program codes: QD only
    • *Excluding progression or transfer into Biomedical Computing and Cognitive Science after year 1
  • Bachelor of Applied Science OUAC program codes: QE, QEM, QEC only
Criteria
  • Entrepreneurial-minded STEM students that demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, creativity, and charisma
  • Financial need strongly considered
Note: Schulich Leader nominees applying to Queen's are asked to submit a Queen's Financial Aid and Awards Profile, by February 15, 2025, to enable Queen's to assess their financial need

Duration Renewable for 3 subsequent years (4 years total) provided the student maintains full time enrolment status in an eligible STEM degree plan and meets the renewal conditions as per their award offer letter
Annual value $30,000 (Bachelor of Applied Science)

$25,000 (Bachelor of Science (Honours) or Bachelor of Computing (Honours))

Number available One hundred are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada. 

Applications are submitted according to the process defined by UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.

High schools are permitted to nominate one Schulich Leader nominee (CEGEPS may nominate up to four students each). 

Deadline

  • High school nominations must be submitted by January 29, 2025
  • Schulich Leader nominees must submit their application by February 19, 2025
  • Queen’s to review applications: March 7 - June 16, 2025
