Bader College Admission Notice

Programs at Bader College have been suspended for the 2023-24 academic year and admission for the 2024-25 academic year has also temporarily been suspended. For additional information please visit our Undergraduate Admission website.

 

 

No Application Required

³ÉÈË´óƬ students who are participating in a Queen's formal exchange or studying at the Bader College will be automatically considered for the following awards. Most of these awards are based on grades.

You will be notified by Financial Aid and Awards or your faculty if you have been selected for an automatic award.

The following awards have been made available thanks to the generosity of Queen's donors.

As a Queen’s student, you have lots of options for financial aid, including options that require an application.

Established in the Fall of 2006 and last revised in June 2022 by the Bader International Study Centre. Awarded to students in any year, in any undergraduate program of study, who have been selected to attend the Bader International Study Centre.

Val Hanbidge Keast Memorial Scholarship

Established by relatives and friends of Val Hanbidge Keast who graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from ³ÉÈË´óƬ in 1976. Awarded to the St. Andrews Exchange Scholar from ³ÉÈË´óƬ to assist with the costs of travel in countries other than Canada.

Languages, Literatures and Cultures Scholarship

Established in February 2004 by the Department of German and last revised in May 2020 by the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering second, third, or fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree with an academic plan offered by the department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Science.

Barbara C. Pearson Memorial Scholarship

Awarded at the end of the second year to the student with the highest standing in a major, medial, or language and linguistics program (concentration: French), who plans to spend the third year of the program at a French-speaking university.

Jean Shields Sanders Scholarship in German

Established by Mrs. Joan Drabek (Arts '52) of Vancouver in memory of her mother, Jean Shields Sanders (Arts '14). Awarded annually at the end of the second year on the recommendation of the Department to an outstanding Canadian student who will spend the third year of a four-year Bachelor of Arts program with a major, medial, or minor concentration in German at a German-speaking university. All courses necessary for eligibility to spend the third year abroad for credit under departmental and faculty regulations must have been completed. The award will be made on the basis of high overall academic standing in German language and literature and other cognate courses taken at Queen's in both the first and second years and is intended to recognize exceptional promise in the discipline.

Costa Rica Exchange Award

Established in September 2022 by the Heller Smith Foundation. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement to international students from Costa Rica studying at a recognized exchange partner to come to the Smith School of Business on an official bi-lateral exchange. Awarded to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in this exchange. The duration of the exchange will be for a minimum of one term (4 months). Selection will be made by the Smith School of Business Awards Committee, the Centre for International Management and in consultation with the partnering institutions.

Rick Jackson Scholarship

Established in November 2009 by graduates of the Commerce Program, colleagues, and friends in honour of Richard Jackson, professor in the School of Business from 1974 to 2009.  Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and involvement in school or community activities to students entering third year of the Commerce program in the Smith School of Business, who have been selected to participate in a formal Queen's bi-lateral exchange.

MBA 1991 Exchange Scholarship

Established in September 2017 by the class of MBA 1991 in recognition of their 25th reunion. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated interest to students in the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business who have been selected to participate in a formal international exchange with one of the Smith MBA partner Business Schools. Preference will be given to students who may not otherwise be able to participate in an international exchange opportunity as determined by the Awards Committee of the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business.

MBA 1994 Exchange Scholarship

Established in February 2024 by the Class of MBA 1994. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated interest to students in the Full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business who have been selected to participate in a formal international exchange with one of the Smith MBA partner Business Schools. Preference will be given to students who may not otherwise be able to participate in an international exchange opportunity as determined by the Awards Committee of the Full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business. Selection will be made by the Awards Committee of the Full-time MBA program in the Smith School of Business.

Douglas & Catherine McIntosh Scholarship

Established in March 2018 by Douglas McIntosh, BCom 1982, and Catherine McIntosh, BCom 1982, and awarded on the basis of academic excellence and leadership qualities to international students from Africa studying at a recognized exchange partner to come to the Smith School of Business on an official bi-lateral exchange. Awarded to students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in this exchange. First preference will be given to Commerce students, but students in other programs at the Smith School of Business who meet the criteria may also be considered. The duration of the exchange will be for a minimum of one term (4 months). Selection will be made by the Smith School of Business Awards Committee, the Centre for International Management and in consultation with the partnering institutions.

Thomas and Elizabeth Miller Exchange Scholarship

Established in September 2006 by Thomas, B.Com. 1979, and Elizabeth, B.F.A. 1979, Miller and awarded on the basis of academic excellence to Bachelor of Commerce students participating in an official international bilateral exchange program.

Scotiabank Group Scholarship of the Americas

Established in October 2006 by the Scotiabank Group and awarded on the basis of academic excellence and leadership qualities to (i) students in the Smith School of Business who are participating in an official university bi-lateral exchange with a recognized exchange partner in Central America or South America, or (ii) international students at a recognized exchange partner to come to the Smith School of Business on an official bi-lateral exchange, based on the same criteria. The duration of the exchange will be for a minimum of one term (4 months). Selection will be made by the Smith School of Business Awards Selection Committee, the Centre for International Management and in consultation with the partnering institutions.
