August Fun in the City of Kingston

Wolfe Island Music Festival

During the summertime, Kingston has endless events and opportunities for fun in the city. That being said, here are three things that you can do in Kingston, during the month of August.

The first event that will be taking place between August 24th to August 27th is the Limestone City Blues Festival. This festival has been running for 26 years and it will be held in different areas within downtown Kingston, including Springer Market Square and Confederation Park. Throughout the four days, different artists will be showcasing live performances in popular Western music styles, as well as other modern music genres. The blues festival is a great way to honour Blues, and to support the musicians behind it. This year’s headliners can be discovered on the Downtown Kingston website, along with a link to buy tickets. For the first time ever, there will also be local food and artisan vendors, which will be located near the two main stages. You do not want to miss out on this incredible opportunity to enjoy live music in beautiful downtown Kingston!

Another Kingston-based event that will be running this summer is the Kingston Women’s Art Festival. From 10am to 5pm on August 12th and 13th, head over to City Park to celebrate 40 years of women in art! This festival includes an art market, live performances, a selection of locally crafted beers and beverages from Daft Brewing, and an activity area featuring some fun arts and crafts. Within the art market, you can discover a collection of works by talented local artists, who are all women. As well, you can enjoy live music as you walk through the festival, performed by local musicians from the Kingston area. If you are interested in joining the Women’s Art Festival team, they are currently looking for volunteers to help with the event. The application can be found on their website!

Last, but certainly not least, make sure to check out the Kingston Food Tours that are available in various locations across downtown Kingston. Over the years, Kingston has offered walking tours for diverse tastings and dining experiences, at local restaurants in the downtown area. The tour includes different shops, restaurants, and farmers who are local to the Kingston region. You can choose between their signature tour, called the ‘Classic Kingston’, or a Tapas tour, which includes alcoholic beverages. Tickets for both tastings can be found on their website! If you are new to Kingston and are trying to get acquainted with the culture of the city, this would be a great opportunity to do so. Additionally, you will be joined by a local guide, who will offer a nuanced perspective on the history of the city, as well as the unique architecture that can be found downtown. Overall, the food tours can help you discover some of the best local cuisines that Kingston has to offer!
