Effective June 7, 2021, the GREB Multi-Jurisdictional Research Application Form will be deactivated.
This is in response to an announcement that was made at the Canadian Association for Research Ethics Boards (CAREB) Annual Conference in May 2021 about a forthcoming consultation period seeking guidance related to a single REB review model for minimal risk multi-jurisdictional research. Until more information is released from Panel on Research Ethics (PRE), all GREB multi-site applications must be submitted using the GREB Standard Application Form.
If you have any drafts pending submission on the GREB Multi-Jurisdictional Research Application Form in TRAQ, please submit them no later than June 6, 2021. As of June 7, there will no longer be an option to submit this form for ethics review. Any drafts that do not need REB review can be deleted from the TRAQ Researcher portal.
Ms. Gail Irving, the Coordinator for the General Research Ethics Board (GREB) will be retiring from Queen鈥檚 as of May 31, 2021. We wish her a wonderful and relaxing retirement. GREB would also like to welcome Daniel Tesolin, the new Ethics Coordinator for GREB, to Queen鈥檚 University. Daniel has an extensive background in research ethics, as he holds a MA in Theological Studies, specializing in ethics from Concordia University as well as a BA in Philosophy from Concordia University. He has also held positions in research ethics at Dawson College, McMaster University and McGill University鈥檚 Faculty of Medicine and Health Science.
Lastly, GREB is still looking to recruit a new PhD candidate to volunteer to join the Board for a 3-year term starting in September 2021. This is not a paid position. If you are interested in applying for this position, email your cover letter outlining why you think you would be a good fit for GREB, as well as a copy of your resume to the Manager of Research Ethics by June 30, 2021. We will be conducting interviews in the summer of 2021.
