PORT related information

This page will provide you with information about resources and extracurriculars: resources for learning Portuguese, links to newspapers and magazines in Portuguese language, and introduce some general information about Portuguese-speaking countries.

There are several ways you can get involved in Portuguese beyond the classroom. You can participate in an end-of-term dinner; come to a Portuguese film screening during LLCU International Film night; participate in many events organized by the Queen鈥檚 International Centre; or get acquainted with Kingston鈥檚 vibrant Portuguese community.

Portuguese Film Night

Films in Portuguese (with English subtitles) are shown throughout the academic year as part of the LLCU International Film Night. These screenings are open to all students and Kingston public

Announcements regarding the film titles and exact times will be made at the beginning of each term. You can also check our news section for the most updated event information.

Course Dinners

Being a university student in Portugal, you would most certainly be invited to participate in a class or course dinner. This is an event which allows people within a certain group to socialize outside of the otherwise formal school or class setting, having conversations, interacting and sharing experiences, while having a meal and drink at a cheaper group price.

In trying to create such a tradition at the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures (LLCU) of Queen鈥檚 University, past and present students of Beginning Portuguese have socialized and shared wonderful Portuguese meals at Minos Takeout and Dining or at the Portuguese Cultural Centre of Kingston.
