Queen's may take and use personal information in the form of photographs in the following ways:

  • Photographs of students, faculty, and staff are collected and intended primarily for inclusion on the university鈥檚 identification cards.

  • Student photographs may be included in class lists for the use of instructors. 

  • Graduate student photographs may be used in online departmental directories. 

  • Faculty and staff photographs may be used in online employee directories. 

  • Photographs or videos may be taken in the classroom or other learning spaces for educational purposes.

  • Photographs or videos may be taken on campus and at official events such as convocation and alumni events. These photographs or videos may be shared on the university website or social media accounts.

  • Photographs or videos may be taken in public spaces on the university campus and used for promotional purposes on the university website or social media accounts.

Where the use of photographs or videos may not be reasonably expected by individuals, or where an image of an individual will be used for promotional purposes, the university will seek consent to publish photographs or videos. Individuals with questions or concerns should contact the photographer or event organizer, website, or social media account owner.

Areas of the Queen鈥檚 University campus are monitored by video surveillance cameras for the purpose of promoting public safety. Images are retained for approximately 30 days before being deleted. Only in the case of an incident will images be retained for further investigation purposes.
