The university and classrooms are not neutral spaces.
We are all impacted by the world around us. We all bring our various perspectives, lived experiences, and identities to the spaces we inhabit by virtue of who we are. Learning and reflecting about positionality and the way power and privilege manifests is a foundational part of navigating difficult conversations, building and sustaining communities.
Below is a collection of resources curated by the CTL/HREO to support further understanding and skill-building within learning communities at Queen鈥檚.
The CTL and HREO introduce the Positionality Module.
Launching October 2024, this module invites you to engage in critical reflection on your positionality, emphasizing the interplay between your social identities鈥攕uch as gender, race, ethnicity, disability, and class鈥攁nd your experiences in learning environments. By examining how these identities shape your perspectives, knowledge production, and inherent biases, you will gain valuable insights into yourself and your interactions with others.
