My research compares organized Jewish advocacy and activism concerning Israel in Canada, the United States, and France since the late 1990s. I am interested in the extent to which the spectrum of Israel-advocacy organizations and Jewish advocacy organizations focused on Israel issues in Canada, the United States, and France represent the views and attitudes of Jews toward Israel in each of these countries.
My questions include: Why is organized Jewish activism concerning Israel more divisive and more varied politically in the US than it is in Canada, despite survey data showing that Canadian and American Jews’ attitudes toward Israel are similar? Why is organized Jewish activism concerning Israel in France relatively cohesive and conservative as compared to both the United States and Canada?
