Switch to Manulife

Dear RAQ members,

We are writing to advise you that Queen’s University’s Group Benefits Carrier is changing to Manulife, effective July 1, 2020.

Human Resources will be doing a mail-out to all Queen’s retirees during the week of June 8 -12 which will include important information about the new benefits plan.  You can expect to receive this package in the mail within the next week or two.

The package will include details about added plan features for retirees, premium rates, as well as instructions for setting up your online Manulife account.

Should you wish to learn more about the transition to Manulife before you receive your letter from Human Resources, we suggest the following:

Go to  and read the relevant material under the heading The University’s Benefits Plan will move to Manulife effective July 1 2020. Then scroll to the bottom of the page and select the For Retirees button for more information.

Please note the following statements for retirees from that website:

Current retirees will be able to verify personal information, current coverage and apply for new optional benefits using the Manulife secure website for the period up to June 30, 2020. Changes you make directly on the Manulife website will be effective July 1, 2020.

If you are unable to verify your information by June 30th or if you need additional time to think about the new optional benefits, you will also be able to complete this one-time opt-in process during the period July 1 – September 30 by contacting the Manulife Customer Care Centre at 1-800-268-6195, Monday to Friday from 8 am until 8pm.

Please note that RAQ does not have a full-time administrator, so we would kindly ask that you send your questions directly to Human Resources at benefits.project@queensu.ca.

Finally, within this same package from HR, RAQ has included a letter inviting all retirees to join RAQ under our new free membership program. If you haven’t already done so, please complete our new membership form to take advantage of all the benefits of your FREE membership in RAQ.

With best wishes,
