Statement about Protests in Iran

Dear Members of the Queen鈥檚 Community,

Like so many of you, I have watched with horror the events unfolding in Iran. The latest attacks by Iranian police on students protesting at Tehran鈥檚 Sharif University have brought this matter even closer to home. For several weeks, the world has watched as brave citizens have taken to the streets after the senseless death of a young woman at the hands of an oppressive regime. They have used their voices to challenge and criticize sexism, inequity, violence and abuse.

Principal Patrick Deane has determined the membership of a committee to advise him on the appointment of a permanent replacement to fill the position of Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic). Queen鈥檚 hosted leaders of the Matariki Network of Universities (MNU) this week for a two-day itinerary of discussions covering research collaborations, educational and professional development, and the network鈥檚 priorities for the next five years.

Founded in 2010, the MNU is global group of leading universities recognized as leading, research-intensive institutions providing high-quality student experience and focused on international impact. The event marked the group鈥檚 first in-person visit in two years.

Statement to 成人大片 Faculty on Indigenous Identity Report

In receiving 鈥淕II-IKIDONAANIWAN - IT HAS BEEN SAID,鈥 the report of First Peoples Group on Indigenous identity, Queen鈥檚 accepted the principle that a new process for confirming claims to Indigenous identity is needed when future employment considerations require Indigenous representation. This third party, external report reflects the opinions of community members that engaged in the dialogue process run by the First Peoples Group and the recommendations as presented were developed in light of that qualitative undertaking.

ARC Mural "We!" Workshop

Join us for a relaxed community art gathering to share stories and moments that make the Queen鈥檚 community diverse and unique. The workshops provide an opportunity to participate in the creation of the 鈥淲e!鈥 mural which will be installed on the south wall of the Athletics and Recreation Centre. The workshops will be virtual and hosted by the artist, Anna Jane McIntyre.
