Programs

The IPO offers 5 exchange programs, each with their own unique features. All programs are open to Arts and Science students, while some are open to students from other faculties/schools. You may apply to more than one program. Please note that different programs have different application procedures. All exchange programs are subject to the Exchange Programs Policy.

Queen鈥檚 complies with Government of Canada travel advisories. Queen鈥檚 does not permit student exchange to locations with active 鈥渁void non -essential travel鈥 or 鈥渁void all travel鈥 advisories. Please consult for your proposed exchange location. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Environmental Health and Safety (ehssa@queensu.ca).

Courses on Exchange

It is your responsibility as the participant to identify the courses that are required for your degree program. We encourage you to do this in consultation with the Chair of Undergraduate Studies in your department(s) of concentration. You can make a final course selection once you arrive at the host institution. Please remember that entry into courses is not guaranteed.

To guide you in your course selection, use our . Be sure to read the guide on Tab 1 of the spreadsheet. These reports are not restrictive, meaning that there may be other courses at the host university you can take and which may be eligible for transfer credit.

Bilateral Exchange Program

The bilateral exchange program is the largest program. With over 100 partners universities in more than 30 countries, this program is open to students in any discipline in Arts and Science.

Trans-Atlantic Science Student Exchange Program (TASSEP)

The TASSEP program is an exchange program for science students only. It has 14 partner universities in 6 European countries.

St Andrews Exchange Program

The full-year St Andrews Exchange Program is one of the oldest and most prestigious exchange programs at Queen's. It is open to Arts and Science and Smith Engineering students, and comes with a scholarship valued at CAD$8,000.

Killam Fellowships Program

The Killam Exchange Program is a highly competitive exchange program open to students in Arts and Science and Smith Engineering. It places successful applicants at one of 17 US partner universities. Successful students receive a USD$5,000 per semester award and other benefits.

Ontario Universities International (OUI) Exchange Programs

OUI exchange programs are open to students in the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Faculty of Law. The Ontario Baden-W眉rttemberg program offers 9 partner universities in Germany. The Ontario Rh么ne-Alpes programs offers 10 partner universities/Grand 脡coles in France.
