This module invites educators (faculty members, TAs, TFs, and educational support professionals) to reflect on their own positionality in relation to teaching. Emphasizing the importance of understanding how one's educational background, experiences, and identities influence what is taught, how it is taught, and what is evaluated, the module delves into the Indigenous 4Rs鈥擱esponsibility, Respect, Reciprocity, and Relevance鈥攁s a framework for exploring positionality in teaching and learning.
Through this lens, educators will examine their teaching practices and its impact on their students. The module provides practical guidance on creating a personal positionality statement, encouraging educators to articulate their values and perspectives. By engaging with this module, educators will gain a deeper understanding of their role in fostering an inclusive and reflective educational environment.
