Minor

Students in History Minor plan complete 30.0-units of History courses, and apart from the mandatory 6.0-units lectures in the first year, they complete eight 3.0-unit lecture courses from the second to the fourth year. Minor students are not able to enroll in seminar courses, and neither are they able to choose from the experiential learning options and independent research opportunities. History Minors are usually enrolled in a Major plan in a cognate department, such as English, Classics, Politics, Philosophy, or Global Development Studies, but it is not uncommon for students in other plans to Minor in History. A History Minor complements a degree in a different discipline by providing historical context to their core discipline of study. Many of our students enrolled in a Minor plan eventually switch to a History Joint Honours plan to take advantage of the upper-year seminars and other learning opportunities that are usually reserved for Major and Joint Honours students. The details of the History Minor plan can be found below.
