Established in January 2010 by friends of the Department of Classics & Archaeology. The grant is available to contribute to the support of field research that must be carried out at a considerable distance from ³ÉÈË´óƬ. Granted on the basis of academic merit and the feasibility of the proposed field study research (and its relevance to the applicant's studies at Queen's and/or beyond as described within the Department of Classics & Archaeology Travel Grant application). Selection will be made by the Department of Classics & Archaeology Awards Committee. Award winners should note that the award will first be applied to the student's fee account should there be any outstanding fees. The full amount of the award (or the balance after outstanding fees) will be forwarded to the recipient in a cheque or deposited to the student's online-listed bank account.
Application deadline: April 1st.
Established in August 2012 by Suzanne Kilpatrick and the Department of Classics & Archaeology, the Ross Kilpatrick Student Initiatives Fund is intended to enable students at Queen's (graduate and undergraduate), whose Plan area of study is Classics & Archaeology, to participate in projects that will provide educational opportunities outside the classroom and around the world. Preference will be given: 1) to students travelling to attend conferences (anywhere in the world including Canada) or to fulfil volunteer/employment opportunities outside of North America; and 2) for educational opportunities related to Classics. Projects that provide educational opportunities such as participation in competitions, symposia and community development projects will also be considered.
NOTE: The Ross Stuart Kilpatrick Student Initiatives Fund is not intended to fund courses taken for credit.
Applications to this fund can be submitted to the Department of Classics & Archaeology and must include a detailed project outline, expected outcome/benefit and comprehensive budget, including additional funding sources. Funds will be disbursed at the discretion of the Head or designate at the Department of Classics & Archaeology at Queen's.
