Scholarships support Canada鈥檚 future leaders
Five Faculty of Arts and Science students have been named recipients of the prestigious Schulich Leader Scholarship 鈥 joining five students from the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science.
Through The Schulich Foundation, these prestigious entrance scholarships are awarded to 100 high school graduates enrolling in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) undergraduate program at 20 partner universities in Canada. Every high school in Canada can submit one Schulich Leader Nominee per academic year based on academic excellence in STEM, entrepreneurial leadership and financial need. This year more than 1,400 students were nominated.
鈥淭hese scholarships support exceptional young minds that demonstrate great leadership and embrace STEM fields,鈥 says Barbara Crow, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science. 鈥淚 welcome Keegan, Leila, Elliott, Sarena, and Paul to the Faculty and am excited to follow their academic journey. They represent the next generation of entrepreneurial-minded, technology innovators.鈥
The program was initiated with the goal of producing STEM leaders to strengthen the economic competitiveness of Canada and Israel.
鈥淥n behalf of the university, I want to congratulate these highly accomplished students,鈥 says Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs. 鈥淲e look forward to welcoming them to campus, and supporting them as they pursue their studies, and build on their skills and experience that will prepare them to have a positive impact in the world.
