In addition to the Dean's Initiative Awards, there are a number of other funds and awards that are available for students, staff and faculty in the Faculty of Arts and Science to apply for, some of which are made possible by the generous donations of our alumni.
Bartlett Student Initiatives Fund
The Bartlett Student Initiatives Fund will be used to support student participation in projects devoted to the principles of personal growth/community service. Projects should provide educational opportunities such as participation in exchanges, competitions, internships, symposia, conferences and seminars. Applications will be reviewed three times a year following the submission deadlines of October 31 (the Fall 2024 round is closed for submissions), February 28, and May 31.

Black Excellence in Mentorship Award
The Faculty Office is pleased to launch the Black Excellence in Mentorship Award. The award is available to Black Faculty (inclusive of continuing and term adjuncts), graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, who individually or as a team, contribute to an inclusive and supportive research environment at Queen’s University. Nomination forms must be submitted by January 6, 2025.

David Edney Research Travel Award
This annual award provides two graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Science with an opportunity to study and do research in Paris, France, for up to two months in the summer in a fully-equipped apartment owned by Queen's alumnus, Professor David Edney. Application deadline is November 15.

Good Family Visiting Faculty Fellowship
The Good Family Visiting Faculty Research Fellowship was established to encourage research in a wide variety of fields, reinforcing the traditional and anticipated research strengths of Queen’s University by inviting an outstanding scholar, who is currently on sabbatical from their home institution, to join Queen’s University for a fixed-term 6 month appointment in one of the following areas: Biology, Economics, Environmental Studies, History, Physical Health Education, Political Studies, Psychology or Sociology. Application deadline is March 31.

International Mobility Fund
The International Mobility Fund provides support to current undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students who wish to participate in Faculty of Arts and Science global learning activities. The fund assists students by offsetting some of the travel-related expenses related to participating in an Arts and Science global learning experience. The maximum amount for the travel subsidy is $2,000 CDN. Application deadlines are May 1, October 1 and February 1.

International Research Collaborations Fund
Awards up to $10,000 are granted and subject to available funding to support globally-engaged research collaborations involving graduate students. It is anticipated that these funds will be used primarily to support the travel of faculty and graduate students from the Faculty of Arts and Science to potential partner institutions, and vice-versa, to develop meaningful research partnerships. These collaborations will generally be initiated by faculty members. Application deadlines are February 1, June 1, and October 1.

The Patsy and Jamie Anderson Student Initiatives Fund
The Patsy and Jamie Anderson Student Initiatives Fund was established to provide annual support to students within the Faculty of Arts and Science, specifically in the departments of Classics, English, Philosophy and History who participate in competitions, symposia, conferences, community development projects and the publication of scholarly work. Application deadlines are October 15 and March each year.

The Poole Family Student Initiatives Fund
The Poole Family Student Initiative Fund in the Faculty of Arts and Science was established to provide modest grants to undergraduate students registered in the Media and Performance Production program, the DAN School of Drama and Music or Bachelor of Fine Arts program. These grants will enable students to participate in projects that will provide educational opportunities outside of the classroom related to their intellectual, social, athletic, artistic or personal development. Applications will be processed in March and October of each year.

The Professor Frank Pearce Essay Prize
The Professor Frank Pearce Essay Prize ($1,500) was established in September 2016 by the Steve and Sally Stavro Family Foundation, in honour of Professor Emeritus Dr. Frank Pearce. The prize will be awarded to one Master's or PhD level student who submits the best essay (5,000 words) on the topic of radical critical theory and social justice. Applications for this award will be received annually from January 1 - February 15.
