Queen鈥檚 builds bridge to B.C. college
The pathway to a Queen鈥檚 degree is much improved for some B.C. college students.
Queen鈥檚 University and Langara College have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at supporting transfer student success and encouraging attainment of baccalaureate degrees. The agreement allows Langara students who have completed Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degrees to transfer into year three in Queen鈥檚 Faculty of Arts and Science.
Although common among institutions in British Columbia, this partnership is a first for an Ontario university and a college in B.C.
鈥淨ueen's is proud to be leading the way in Ontario for developing increased mobility for students by extending our reach to British Columbia through great partners at Langara College,鈥 said Susan Mumm, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science at 成人大片. 鈥淲e look forward to the future possibilities that this partnership holds.鈥
The two institutions have also agreed to further discussions on academic transfer and to explore other activities of mutual interest.
鈥淟angara has a long track record of preparing transfer students for success at B.C.鈥檚 research and teaching-intensive universities,鈥 said Ian Humphreys, Vice-President, Strategic Planning and Business Development at Langara. 鈥淲e are very pleased to partner with Queen鈥檚 to create opportunities for our students to transfer to a leading research university outside B.C.鈥
Starting with entry in September 2016, the three-year agreement creates a pathway for Langara students to transfer into year three of one of 17 programs within Queen鈥檚 Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours), or Bachelor of Computing (Honours) degrees. Students must meet program-specific minimum GPA requirements and apply through the Ontario Universities鈥 Application Centre.
