Majors Night provides a path forward
Choosing a degree plan is one of the largest academic decisions students make during their time at Queen鈥檚. Following last year, which saw the event held online for the first time due to the pandemic, the eighth annual Faculty of Arts and Science Majors Night was held using the virtual platform, Brazen.
Along with an easy-to-use platform, Brazen offers one on one conversations to allow for more private conversations and personalized advice. Students were able to tour around the different virtual booths and drop in to check out some of the work they do, meet some peers, ask questions, and learn about the curriculum and opportunities to help students figure out which major is the best fit for them.
A total of 471 students attended and there were more than 500 chat sessions that took place during the event. All Arts and Science departments were represented at the event, along with Career Services, Academic Advising, Experiential Learning, the International Programs Office, the Bader College, Certificate in Law, and Certificate in Business.
Information sessions included Choosing a Plan, Certificates, International Opportunities, and Stand Out with Experiential Learning.
First year students who are declaring a plan in May participated along with upper year students who are thinking of a change of plan in May. Majors Night is just the first step in choosing a degree plan as more options and support are offered down the road.
鈥淥ne of the 成人大片 benefits of being in Arts and Science is that every degree is customizable, and Majors Night allows students to explore those opportunities,鈥 says Jenn Stephenson, Associate Dean (Academic). 鈥淵ou can combine your major with minors, certificates, experiential learning opportunities, and electives to make your Queen鈥檚 degree as unique as you are. We also have a dedicated team of academic advisors who are accessible throughout your time at Queen鈥檚 to support your academic journey.
is organized each year in collaboration with Arts and Science Undergraduate Society, Career Services and FAS.
