Join Black Histories and Futures Month virtual launch event

Queen’s and Kingston community members are invited to attend the free, virtual opening ceremony event for Black Histories and Futures Month (BHFM) on Feb. 1, 2023 from 5-7:30 p.m.

Featuring several panel sessions focused on themes of recognition, justice, and development, and a moderated discussion with local Black Youth Leadership, the event will serve as the official unveiling of the month’s calendar of events and programming set to take place across campus and Kingston throughout February (and beyond). There will also be a live performance by poet, writer, and dancer Abena Beloved Green (Abena A. Tuffour).

While February is widely known as Black History Month, the new name — BHFM — moves to recognize the breadth of past Black experiences, and looks toward the many ways Black people, communities, and allies are building a more diverse and equitable future.

If you’re a Queen’s or Kingston community member with a BHFM event or programming you are hoping to promote on the calendar, submit your information to the for consideration.
