The newly launched Ed Tech Toolkit is designed to support educators and educational support staff in selecting, comparing, and finding information related to various ed tech tools in use at Queen’s.

Tools included in the Ed Tech Toolkit have been reviewed by educational support staff across different faculties, disciplines, and skillsets to provide sound pedagogical guidance, practical implementation and support advice, and the most up-to-date information on licensing, privacy, security, and accessibility considerations.

“The diversity and quality of educational technology is increasing rapidly each year,” says William Nelson, Associate Dean Teaching and Learning. “As instructors, this technology gives us new ways to engage students with material and create innovative assessments. The new Ed Tech Toolkit is an invaluable ‘one-stop shop’ for discovering and embedding new educational technology in courses.”

Tools in the kit include:

• FeedbackFruits – A suite of pedagogical tools that are designed to help engage students in their learning and include peer review, group member evaluation, interactive documents.
• Crowdmark - Conduct exams/quizzes/Assignments both in person and online, synchronously and asynchronously with an intuitive grading interface.
• Kahoot - Allows educators to create gamified synchronous multiple-choice quizzes that students can join from browser or mobile device.  
• Powtoon - An online video editing, animation, and screen recording tool.

Instructors and educational support staff who use a tool and wish to have it reviewed can submit a request to have an educational tool reviewed by the Ed Tech Toolkit Working Group which is comprised of educational support professionals from across Queen's who hold expertise in instructional design, educational technologies, accessibility, and security.
