The Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership (MEERL) program recently held its annual alumni event in Calgary, bringing together current students, alumni, faculty, and esteemed guests. This event celebrated the achievements of MEERL graduates and strengthened the bonds within the MEERL community.
Industry leaders and Queen's graduates, Mike Rose (Artsci ’79) and Sue Riddell-Rose (Sc’86), hosted the event, creating a perfect backdrop for meaningful conversations and networking opportunities. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of a generous $1.1 million donation to the program from Mike and Sue. Their generous support and commitment to the MEERL program were evident throughout the evening, reflecting their dedication to fostering the next generation of leaders in earth and energy resources.
In her address, Dean Barbara Crow highlighted the importance of the MEERL program in equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle the complex challenges of the natural resource sector. She emphasized the program’s focus on leadership, innovation, and sustainability, underscoring the critical role of MEERL graduates in shaping the future of the industry.
The attendees, a diverse mix of current MEERL students, accomplished alumni, and distinguished faculty members, enjoyed an evening filled with engaging discussions and inspiring stories. The event provided a platform for alumni to share their professional experiences and insights, offering invaluable guidance to current students poised to follow in their footsteps.
