Discover your passion and purpose during Plan Selection
It鈥檚 plan selection time in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Students are busy making the important decision of which area of study they wish to pursue during their time at Queen鈥檚 University.
From now until May 27, students who have completed 24 units or more must declare their plan in SOLUS. For upper-year students this may involve requesting to change their degree program.
鈥淲e have more than 2,600 degree options including joint honours, minors, and certificates,鈥 says Jenn Stephenson, Associate Dean (Academic). 鈥淭his is an exciting time of year where students start uncovering their passions and focusing on the road ahead. It鈥檚 also a chance for upper-year students to change their plan as they learn more about themselves. The Faculty certainly has a range of intriguing and comprehensive programs for students to choose from.鈥
Sustainable Development Goals
A focus this year for the Faculty of Arts and Science is the and students interested in pursuing an education in this area have a number of unique options.
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures now offers a Major and Joint Honours Plan in Indigenous Studies. These plans provide both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students the opportunity to immerse themselves in Indigenous histories, cultures, and worldviews to ensure that future leaders and policymakers have a solid foundation in the historic and contemporary lived realities of First Nations, M茅tis and Inuit peoples in Canada.
Expand your knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures, while developing professional skills such as innovative Indigenous approaches to learning and research to work with Indigenous communities.

The Department of Gender Studies now offers a Minor and General (three-year) Plan options in Black Studies, where students will explore courses in art history, Black literature, music, philosophy, global health, Black religions, technologies of hip hop, and much more. Black Studies is a truly interdisciplinary program that prepares students for a broad range of careers.

Career planning
Students interested in focusing on a career have a myriad of choice available to them. Two examples of them are Employment Relations and Film and Media.
Creating a more diverse and equitable workplace leads to a more productive economy and a greater quality of life for all Canadians. Offering a minor and general three-year plan, Employment Relations provides a chance to help shape the world of work.
The Department of Film and Media offers unique programs, such as Specialization in Computing and the Creative Arts and Specialization in Media and Performance Production, that let students learn from both sides of the camera on the premise that graduates should be versed in theories, contexts, and techniques of the medium. Students at Queen鈥檚 will learn how to produce innovative and diverse applications of film and media in our rapidly changing media spaces.
