Research Interests

International Security, Nuclear Weapons, Deterrence and Proliferation, Great Powers Dynamics, Canadian Defence and Foreign Policy, and NATO.

Brief Biography

脡mile is a doctoral candidate and Joseph-Armand Bombardier (CGS-D) Scholar in the Department of Political Studies at Queen鈥檚 University, studying International Relations and Security. He has been granted the Desjardins Scholarship, the G.G. Baron Van der Feltz Award for best master鈥檚 dissertation in International Relations, and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS; twice). 脡mile鈥檚 research is primarily focused on NATO deterrence, nuclear weapons, and nuclear latency. Additionally, he works on Canadian foreign and defence policy, as well as nuclear (non-)proliferation. 

脡mile has authored or co-authored articles, book chapters, and book reviews that have been published in International Affairs, the Journal of Strategic and Military Studies, the Palgrave Handbook on Contemporary Geopolitics, and The Conversation, and regularly analyzes international events on the radio. He is also a Graduate Research Fellow at the Centre for International and Defence Policy, and a Coordinator for the Network for Strategic Analysis. Previously, 脡mile earned a B.A. in International Development Studies at McGill University in 2020, and a M.A. in Political Studies at Queen鈥檚 University in 2022.

Brief Biography

Yerin Chung is a doctoral student in the Department of Political Studies at 成人大片 specializing in Political Theory and International Relations. Yerin serves as the Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Canadian Peace Research Association (CPRA). She is a Junior Fellow with the Conference of Defence Associations Institute (CDA Institute) and has previously worked with the Institute as a Research Assistant. Yerin holds a M.A. degree in Political Science with a Specialization in Political Theory and a B.A. (Hons.) degree in Political Science both from Western University.  

Research Interests

Yerin鈥檚 research will focus on political theory under the supervision of Dr. Colin Farrelly. She is particularly interested in interdisciplinary studies of incorporating empirical research to normative theory and specializes in moral and ethical problems as it concerns human rights, global distributive justice, and intergenerational justice. Additionally, she holds a broad interest in international relations as it concerns Canadian peace and security issues.
