Congratulations to Dr. Rebecca Manley who is a second time winner of History's Faculty Teaching Award. Professor Manley's students describe her as an 鈥渁mazing鈥 and "simply fantastic professor." She was 鈥渟ympathetic and considerate鈥 and 鈥渨ent the extra mile for everything.鈥 Students from her classes in Hist 451 - Experience of War in Twentieth Century Europe and Hist 421 - The Russian Revolution said that they felt a real connection in her seminars. Dr. Manley is currently Chair of the History Department and is author of TO THE TASHKENT STATION: Evacuation and Survival in the Soviet Union at War.
Congratulations to Dr. Casey Hurrell for winning History's Teaching Fellow Teaching Award. In 2014-15 academic year, Dr. Hurrell taught Hist 356 鈥 Health and Disease in Western Society. Casey is described as an 鈥渋ncredible instructor.鈥 She created a comfortable classroom atmosphere that was 鈥渨elcoming and truly happy, just like Casey鈥 and her 鈥渉ilarious commentary and personal touch on the subject matter was greatly appreciated by her class.鈥 Casey received her Ph.D. in History in the Fall of 2015. Her thesis is entitled 鈥淗ealth and Medicine as 鈥渢he Rallying Points of Unity鈥: Physicians, Activism and International Efforts in the Early Cold War.鈥
