Heena completed both her MA (2014) and PhD (2019) at the History department at Queen鈥檚. After graduation Heena was employed by the Queen鈥檚 School of Graduate Studies as a policy writer and analyst. Heena has also taught courses at Queen鈥檚 about slavery in North America. Through her teaching, work, and volunteering with SGS鈥檚 PhD Community Initiative, Heena developed a passion for addressing inequities and inequalities in Higher Education. She is currently an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training Specialist at Wilfred Laurier University, helping instructors incorporate equity, diversity, and inclusion in their research and teaching.
Outside of her work at the EDI office at Laurier, Heena is a board member at many local and community organizations in Guelph. She sits on the Board of the Shelldale Family Gateway and recently joined the Board of the Guelph Museums Advisory Committee. Heena is also a member of the Education Committee at the Guelph Black Heritage Society.
