Rosa GutierrezThe Department of Gender Studies is pleased to announce Rosa Gutierrez as the new Graduate Assistant.

Rosa brings exceptional administrative, communication, policy, and community engagement experience to this role.  She holds a BAH in Political Studies and History (Queen鈥檚 University) and an MA in Political Studies (Queen鈥檚 University). The committee was impressed by Rosa鈥檚 ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high quality results while building strong relationships and maintaining a calm, empathetic demeanor.  She demonstrated a rich and nuanced understanding of the Queen鈥檚 and Kingston community, and shared exciting ideas of how Gender Studies and Black Studies can engage local residents and organizations.
 
鈥淲e are excited to have Rosa joining us as the new Graduate Assistant for Gender Studies. With impressive administrative and organizational experience and skills from her work in public and non-profit organizations, as well as a strong commitment to practices of equity, diversity, and inclusion, she will be a tremendous support to our graduate program, faculty and students and bring fresh insight to how we administer the graduate program in Gender Studies. I'm delighted she is coming on board and am very much looking forward to working together,鈥 adds Gender Studies Grad Chair, Trish Salah.
 
Rosa comments, 鈥淚n 2016, I completed a MA in Political Studies from Queen鈥檚 University with an interest in Canadian social policy and welfare reform. Since then, I鈥檝e had the opportunity to work in a range of settings supporting provincial legislation, academic research, and community development. I am thrilled to return to Queen鈥檚 as a Graduate Assistant for the Gender Studies Department. I look forward to supporting staff, students, and faculty in this role!鈥
