    Richard Manley-Tannis and Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis

    Fall 2021

    Richard and Shelley would like to announce that they both completed their PhDs through the Taos Institute and Tilburg University in the Netherlands. Richard was awarded his doctorate in practical theology and relational construction in Tilburg, Feb. 17, 2020.

    For the past three years, Richard, who is also a commissioned diaconal minister in the United Church of Canada, has held the position of the principal of St. Andrew’s College, a United Church theological school at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, Sask.

    Rev. Shelly Manley-Tannis became an ordained minister after graduating from Queen’s Theological College in 2001 and currently works with the congregation of Mayfair United Church in Saskatoon, Sask.

    Julie Thompson Blamires

    Fall 2021

    This year Julie completed her PhD in Health Science; she is working as a lecturer at the University of Auckland, as well as managing a successful marriage and raising two beautiful children. Queen’s University gave Julie a solid platform from which she could launch her aspirations into our world.

    Julie began her journey working at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. Julie later completed a master’s degree in nursing science while working at the Children’s Hospital in Auckland.

    Lawrence Palmer

    After graduating, Larry supply-taught welding for two years, and he then supply-taught computer programming for one year. He then became headmaster of electronics training at Herzing Institute and later became the engineering technologist for OMYA Canada outside Perth. He retired from there at 65.

    Peter T. Howe

    After 16 years in Europe leading three United World Colleges, Peter and his wife Sally have moved closer to home, with Peter taking up the headship of Somersfield Academy in Bermuda. They are looking forward to reconnecting with friends and family in Canada.

    John T. Matthew

    – MDiv'75

    Fall 2021

    Dr. Rev. Mathew retired from his 45-year-long ordained pastoral ministry in the global church on June 30, 2020.

    His past works include fellowships and pastoral roles at Harvard and Princeton universities and a professorship at Laurentian University. He represented the church at the 100th anniversary of the Chicago Parliament of Religions in 1993, as well as several global ecumenical and interfaith gatherings, including the 10th Assembly of the World Council of Churches, held in Busan, South Korea, in 2013.

    Rev. Dr. Mathew’s wife is Dr. Joyan Thomas, Kallyanaseril, Ayroor of Singapore, a graduate of Lady Hardinge Medical College, University of Delhi; their only son Bram, following his studies in Manchester, England, and Aberdeen, Scotland, is teaching in Toronto.

    Rob Keith

    Rob moved to G.P. Vanier School in Calgary as principal in January 2020, and now works as a yacht skipper and Cruise and Learn instructor with Cooper Boating in Vancouver and Island Cruising in Sidney, B.C., as time allows.
