Ali VelshiBorn in Nairobi and raised in Toronto, Velshi brings a unique perspective from a Washington insider鈥檚 point of view and, most importantly, from a Canadian point of view. A weekly economics contributor to NPR鈥檚 鈥Here And Now,鈥 he has covered multiple U.S. Midterm and Presidential elections and significant news stories around the globe, including extensive reporting from Ukraine and across Central and Eastern Europe during the Russian invasion, the Syrian refugee crisis from Turkey and Jordan, the Iran Nuclear Deal in Tehran, the Greek debt crisis in Athens, and the funeral of Nelson Mandela in South Africa.

Small Acts of Courage chronicles his family鈥檚 journey from apartheid South Africa to Kenya to Toronto and serves as a heartfelt exploration of how we can breathe new life into the principles of pluralistic democracy.
