Sweet Nothings: A Saxophone Recital

Jeffrey Leung, the DAN School’s dynamic and versatile saxophone teacher, has assembled a varied program of six compositions featuring soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones and the Canadian premiere of Sweet Nothings by American composer Gala Flagello. Pieces by David Biedenbender (USA) and Takashi Yoshimatsu (Japan) draw from pop and jazz influences, while Cait Nishimura’s (Canada) songful work is inspired by Welsh origins. Several chamber works feature faculty members including Bruce Kelly, voice, Dina Namer, piano, in music by Jean Françaix (France), and Sarah Yunji Moon, flute, in an electric work by Guillaume Connesson (France).
