Emeritus Professor Millard Schumaker (1936-2018)

Millard Kent Schumaker, Emeritus Professor of Queen鈥檚 Theological and the Department of Religious Studies of Queen鈥檚 University, passed away on June 20, 2018.

Born on July 26, 1936 in Genoa, Nebraska, he became a Canadian citizen in 1977. He earned both the A.B (1958) and M.A. (1967) from Colgate University, the S.T.B. from Harvard Divinity School (1961), and the Ph.D. from Queen鈥檚 University (1970), specializing in moral philosophy. Millard joined the faculty of Queen鈥檚 Theological College in 1969, became full professor in 1982, and retired in 2002.

Millard was a brilliant, caring and complex person. He was a gifted raconteur, charismatic instructor, pioneering ethicist, committed theologian, and an expert in book-production. He was also a wonderful friend and mentor to many students and colleagues at Queen's.
