Getting to Kingston

Kingston is a 2-3 hour drive from the major Canadian cities of Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. If you are arriving by airplane in one of those cities, you can get to Kingston by car, bus or Via Rail. There are also local flights arriving regularly at the Kingston (Norman-Rogers) Airport, which is roughly a 20 minute taxi ride to the Queen's campus.

By Car

  • From Montreal: West on Autoroute 720, then west on Autoroute 20, then west on Ontario's Highway 401. ³ÉÈË´óƬ 290 km, or about 3 hours by car.
     
  • From Ottawa: South on Highway 416, and west on Highway 401. ³ÉÈË´óƬ 200 km, or about 2 hours by car.
     
  • From Toronto: East on Highway 401. ³ÉÈË´óƬ 260 km, or about 2.75 hours by car.

By Air, Train or Bus

  • Flights arrive at Kingston's .
     
  • Train service to Kingston arrives at the Kingston  Station. Train service is available from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
     
  • Bus service arrives at the John Counter Blvd . Bus service is available from Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

Getting to the Queen's Campus

  • From Highway 401 to Kingston, exit south on Sir John A. Macdonald Blvd. (exit 615). Follow this street south to Union Street, which is at the eighth set of traffic lights. Turn left onto Union and continue for approximately 10 blocks to the Queen's campus.
     
  • From Airport, train station, or bus terminal, the Queen's campus is about a $15-20 taxi ride. Allow for 15-20 minutes travel time during peak periods.

Getting to Stirling Hall

We are located in Stirling Hall, the unmistakable round building on Bader Lane. Note that if you enter the building from Bader Lane, you will technically be on floor 2-and-a-half. To get to the administrative offices, go down the stairs. See campus map.

Visitor Parking

  • Paid underground parking for visitors to the main campus of ³ÉÈË´óƬ is available in the parking garage located at the corner of University Avenue and Stuart Street (enter form Stuart Street) as well as the Queen’s Centre parking garage (enter from Division Street). See campus map and select the "Commuter Services" box to view options and locations.

  • On Street pay-and-display parking areas: On main campus, there are designated spots areas in the Tindall Field surface lot. The City of Kingston is in charge of, and enforces,  along many streets in the area (e.g., parts of Union Street, Stuart Street behind Stirling Hall).

  • Free parking is also available along some city streets (with time restrictions). Use of permit parking spaces is also allowed after designated hours.

  • Permit parking: Parking permits are required (as indicated by signage) for all Queen's surface lots and Queen's designated on-street permit parking spots from 7 am – 4 pm Monday through Friday inclusive (but not statutory holidays). The lot behind McLaughlin Hall requires a permit 24 hours per day all year. See campus parking regulations.
