UWI-Queens Campuses

This year marks 20 years of our agreements with UWI campuses in Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago.


Fast Facts

Our undergraduate student exchange agreement started in 2003 and involves Faculties of Arts and Science, Smith Engineering and Applied Science, Law, and Smith School of Business Commerce with the following campuses:

  • (Barbados)
  • (Jamaica)
  • (Trinidad and Tobago)

Since 2018: 13 Queen's students have studied at a UWI campus on exchange and 19 UWI students have studied at Queen's.

UN SDGs are a research priority for the University of West Indies, with them partnering with other institutions on the basis of purpose and impact ().


Recent Initiatives

In April 2023, Wanda Costen, Dean of the Smith School of Business, spent a week visiting both The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus (Jamaica) and the Cave Hill Campus (Barbados) accompanied by Angela James, Director of Smith Business' Centre for International Management. Dean Costen studied as a Fulbright Scholar at the UWI Mona Campus and has maintained ties to the region.

In 2023: as part of successful EduCanada ELAP-supported projects:

  • Dr. of Queen's School of Rehabilitation Therapy made two trips in 2023 to UWI (Mona Campus) guest teaching and discussing Physical Therapy education and research.
  • Dr. of Faculty of Education made multiple trips to implement a collaborative research laboratory approach with colleagues at UWI (St Augustine Campus) to teach graduate students, deepen partnerships, and support the development of an Education Prosperity Index!
