Last week, Professor of Chemical Engineering, , represented Queen鈥檚 University in Paraguay and Argentina meeting with prospective partners, scholarship agencies, and ministries of education.

The visit to Paraguay and Argentina was made possible by Queen鈥檚 membership in . CALDO is a consortium of U15 Canadian universities seeking to expand engagement in Central and South America through the recruitment of graduate students and opportunities for deeper engagement via research collaboration, double degrees, and language programs.

During the visit, Queen鈥檚 met with representatives from universities and the academic excellence scholarship national program, , in Paraguay to promote Queen鈥檚 academic programs and learn more about the funding available for graduate students in Paraguay to pursue master鈥檚 and PhD programs in Canada. As well, the visited included meetings with six different university representatives and a meeting with the Deputy Secretariat of University Policies of the Ministry of Education in Argentina. Additionally, there was a meeting with the Vice-President of Scientific Affairs of the National Scientific and Technical Research Council, , in Argentina where discussions centred around establishing new research collaborations, professional training and academic cooperation.

The visit was a success and significantly contributed to raising awareness of Queen鈥檚 University in both Paraguay and Argentina.
