Exciting new Matariki Network of Universities Opportunity for 2024-25

The  is now open. This pilot opportunity is for senior professional staff (grade 10 and above) within MNU institutions, including 成人大片. Note: faculty members and university librarians are not eligible. 


What is the fund to be used for?

  • Intended to enhance personal and career development, professional leadership expertise and global collaboration.
  • Projects need to address concrete opportunities or challenges in the university sector, and show benefit to the Queen鈥檚, partner institution and MNU as a whole.
  • Projects should focus on the and the . Projects that address goals in the Global Engagement Strategic Plan are encouraged.
  • Projects involving travel are permitted, but participants cannot be away from their home institution for more than two weeks.
  • Successful applicants are expected to identify a collaboration project commencing in 2024 and running for a maximum of 12 months.
  • The lead collaborator will work with at least one other Matariki institution and share their learning and any other outputs with the Matariki Network in the form of a short summary report.

This pilot initiative has available grants of a maximum of 拢2,500 per project.


Application

Interested professionals are asked to complete an application outlining their project proposal and confirming who their collaboration partner/s will be. The application opens May 1, 2024 and close on June 11, 2024 at 11.59pm BST.

Letters of Support

Each applicant must have a letter of support from their direct manager to ensure that the applicant鈥檚 participation will not negatively impact the operational needs of the unit or department. Managers with questions about the fund can contact global@queensu.ca


Selection process

  • Submitted applications will go to an internal selection panel at the applicant鈥檚 home institution to be shortlisted, before being sent to a Matariki Network central Judging Panel for consideration.
  • This Panel will consist of individuals from all seven of the Matariki Network partners.
  • Successful candidates will be confirmed by the end of July 2024.

Funding

The funding provided is intended to support expenses and costs associated with workshops, meetings and project-related costs to encourage engagement across the Matariki Network

Eligible costs:

  • Project costs including consumables such as marketing and promotional materials, event programmes, (up to a maximum of 1/3 of total grant amount).
  • Facilitation of a workshop/event with partners, with the aim of refining the content and objectives of a engagement proposal, or developing strategies for a Network-wide impact.
  • Catering and room hire.
  • Travel, accommodation and subsistence for the Applicant.

Ineligible costs:

  • Salary support for the applicant(s).
  • Business start-up costs.
  • Project travel costs for any non-applicant.
  • Travel or accommodation for non MNU project partners.
