How to Report a Fraud
Suspected or known incidents of fraud, as defined under the Fraud Policy, can be reported in the following ways:
Reports can be made verbally or in writing, and can be made openly, confidentially ,or anonymously. Anonymous reports must contain enough information, details and accompanying documents (if any) to permit the university to commence an investigation.

What is Fraud?
Under the Fraud Policy, fraud is defined as:
Fraud - A willful or deliberate act, omission, misrepresentation, or concealment of facts for the personal advantage of anyone, including but not limited to:
- Theft, embezzlement, misappropriation, destruction, removal, or concealment of University Assets, including property under the university鈥檚 care and/or control (including furniture, fixtures, equipment, data and, intellectual property);
- Forgery, falsification, misrepresentation, and alteration or destruction of accounts, documents, or records (paper and electronic);
- Authorizing or receiving payment for goods or services not received or performed;
- Authorizing or receiving payment for time not worked;
- Altering or deliberately reporting incorrect financial or personal information
- Unauthorized use of University Assets
- Claiming for, or authorizing of, reimbursement of expenses not incurred for the benefit of the University;
- Engaging in bribery, kick-backs or seeking unauthorized rebates;
- Identity theft;
- Misrepresentation of credentials or status with/to the university, including holding oneself out as having an authority not possessed; and,
- Aiding in or obfuscating the fraud of another.
Fraud Reporting Options
The university has established an anonymous reporting mechanism through the Confidence Line. The Confidence Line is available on a 24-hour, 7-day per week and 365-day per year basis for the purpose of receiving concerns, complaints and information about Fraud misconduct involving university assets:

Contact University Secretary by email, letter, or telephone under the Improper Acts Reporting Policy. The University Secretary will forward the report to Internal Audit for investigation under the Fraud Policy.
