Orientation to Campus

Your First Day

Contact the Human Resources Department (HR) at 613-533-2070 or email hradmin@queensu.ca to:

  • get your employee number and employee card
  • sign up for payroll
    • you will need your letter of appointment, work permit if required, and Social Insurance Number, as well as a piece of ID showing proof of age and banking information, as Queen's only pays by direct deposit into your bank account
  • enroll in employee benefits
  • find out more about the University Pension Plan, childcare support, tuition assistance plan and employee discounts
  • get UHIP health coverage for you and your dependents (ONLY if you are not covered by OHIP or another provincial plan)

Campus Security and Emergency Services provide 24/7 support on campus and include services such as wellness checks, the emergency response centre, the lone worker program, and the blue light emergency phones.

All new employees are encouraged to download the SeQure App which provides quick access to resources such as the emergency line, safety updates, accessibility notifications (e.g. elevator issues), and student-run services such as AMS Walkhome Service.
