It鈥檚 a cold and dreary Sunday afternoon and Principal Daniel Woolf and Julie Gordon-Woolf are methodically making their way through the various libraries at Queen鈥檚 University on a mission of support.

Each time the duo steps into a room, their hands filled with bags of cookies, there is a buzz amongst the many students who are studying for final exams - it鈥檚 time for a sweet treat.

In what has become a highly-anticipated tradition for Queen鈥檚 students, for the ninth year in a row Principal Woolf and his wife spent the day handing out 1,800 cookies 鈥 a record number as the couple mark the final 鈥楥ookie Drop鈥 before Principal Woolf completes his second five-year term.

A small, delicious token perhaps, but the reactions of many students show that the snack and words of support are appreciated.

鈥淗aving been a Queen鈥檚 student myself, I know final exams can be a stressful time,鈥 Principal Woolf says. 鈥淣ine years ago Julie and I decided to provide students at Queen鈥檚 libraries with a sweet snack and maybe provide that little bit of momentum as they near the end of the academic year.鈥

The cookies were sponsored by the Principal鈥檚 Office, and the Queen's Student Alumni Association helped bag all 1,800.

鈥淚 want to thank everyone who has helped Julie and me over the years,鈥 Principal Woolf says. 鈥淲e have enjoyed seeing all the smiles and the many conversations amongst the bookshelves at Queen鈥檚 libraries.鈥
