Interest in undergraduate programs at Queen鈥檚 continues to grow, as the university has received almost 58,000 applications for approximately 5,000 first-year spots in fall 2024, an eight per cent increase compared to this time last year and the highest number of applications ever.
鈥淥utstanding students continue to be drawn to our university and the promise of our exceptional academic programs, vibrant campus life, and strong, supportive community,鈥 says Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs. 鈥淭his is an exciting time for those who have been offered a spot at our university, and we are here to provide information, answer their questions, and support them every step of the way.鈥
The team in Undergraduate Admission and Recruitment continues to make offers of admission to top applicants and highlight what makes the Queen鈥檚 experience unique. The next phase of the recruitment cycle kicked off on Feb. 8 with an event for applicants and their families at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. Approximately 700 people attended the Queen鈥檚 U Bound event to meet with staff, faculty representatives, and current students.
鈥淚t鈥檚 great to be able to talk with students about my experience at Queen鈥檚 so far and answer questions about what it鈥檚 like to study and live on campus and in Kingston,鈥 says Cameron Hare, a Kinesiology student and Peer Equity Ambassador. 鈥淚鈥檓 so glad I chose Queen鈥檚 and it鈥檚 exciting to remember what this time is like for applicants with so much to look forward to as they start their university journey.鈥
Following this in-person event, two online sessions are scheduled for Feb. 13, one in the morning for applicants overseas, and one in the evening for students in Canada. Recruitment staff are also holding a series of in-person visits across Canada and internationally during which students can have their questions answered and learn more about the Queen鈥檚 experience.
Feb. 15 is the deadline for students applying to Health Sciences, Commerce and Nursing to submit their supplementary applications. It鈥檚 also the recommended date for all applicants to complete their Queen鈥檚 Financial Aid and Awards Profile, and the deadline for applications to Queen鈥檚 Promise Scholars and Commitment Scholars programs, which are designed to increase access to Queen鈥檚 among students from equity-deserving groups.
