Students participate in a workshop at Student Academic Success Services.

Queen鈥檚 will develop a strategic plan for its student services to help meet the evolving needs of students and ensure alignment with the university鈥檚 strategic enrolment management process and strategic framework.

Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) has established an ad hoc advisory committee to undertake the planning exercise. The committee will engage with students, staff, faculty and community partners over the course of its work.

鈥淪tudent services are a vital part of the Queen鈥檚 student learning experience and the university wants to ensure that the many services it delivers continue to develop in an integrated fashion to meet students鈥 needs now and in the future,鈥 Provost Harrison says. 鈥淭he establishment of the committee also serves as a response to feedback received during last fall鈥檚 Board/Senate retreat, and to input from others on campus.鈥

The advisory committee, which will be chaired by Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, is expected to submit the draft planning document to the provost by July 1.

"We will review best practices, identify opportunities to build capacity, and ensure that our student services continue to provide the best possible supports for students."

鈥淥ver the coming months the advisory committee will engage with the campus community to produce a forward-looking strategic plan,鈥 says Dean Tierney. 鈥淲e will review best practices, identify opportunities to build capacity, and ensure that our student services continue to provide the best possible supports for students.鈥

Student services at Queen鈥檚 cover a wide range of areas, including student life, health and wellness, academic support and advising, and specialized services for underrepresented student populations.
