Queen’s will develop a strategic plan for its student services to help meet the evolving needs of students and ensure alignment with the university’s strategic enrolment management process and strategic framework.

Alan Harrison, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) has established an ad hoc advisory committee to undertake the planning exercise. The committee will engage with students, staff, faculty and community partners over the course of its work.

“Student services are a vital part of the Queen’s student learning experience and the university wants to ensure that the many services it delivers continue to develop in an integrated fashion to meet students’ needs now and in the future,” Provost Harrison says. “The establishment of the committee also serves as a response to feedback received during last fall’s Board/Senate retreat, and to input from others on campus.”

The advisory committee, which will be chaired by Ann Tierney, Vice-Provost and Dean of Student Affairs, is expected to submit the draft planning document to the provost by July 1.

Student services at Queen’s cover a wide range of areas, including student life, health and wellness, academic support and advising, and specialized services for underrepresented student populations.
