Queen鈥檚 places fifth in 2022 惭补肠濒别补苍鈥檚 university rankings

Queen's maintained its ranking of fifth out 15 medical-doctoral universities nationwide, in the 2022 Maclean's university ranking, which were released Thursday.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that Queen鈥檚 has been ranked fifth, behind only McGill, Toronto, UBC, and McMaster.
Queen鈥檚 University once again placed first nationally in the proportion of undergraduate students who graduate (89.1 per cent), second in student retention from first year to second year (95.4 per cent), and fifth for average entering grade (90.3 per cent). The university improved its score in each of the categories as well.
The medical-doctoral category features universities with a broad range of PhD programs and research, as well as medical schools. The two other categories in the rankings are comprehensive, and primarily undergraduate.
The rankings comprise five categories: students (28 per cent of final score); faculty (20 per cent); resources (22 per cent); student support (15 per cent); and reputation (15 per cent).
Within those categories Queen鈥檚 highest rankings were Faculty Awards (3), Student Satisfaction (4), Student Awards (5), Library Expenses (6), Medical/Science Grants (7), and Student Services (7).
Queen鈥檚 ranked sixth in the Reputational Survey, matching last year鈥檚 ranking.

Student Satisfaction Survey
More than 19,000 students from across Canada responded to 惭补肠濒别补苍鈥檚 online survey, providing their views on their university experience and overall satisfaction. In the medical-doctoral category Queen鈥檚 placed fourth, behind Sherbrooke, Laval, and Western.
Queen鈥檚 grabbed a spot in the top five in six of the 10 categories, led by a first place in Extracurricular Activities. Queen鈥檚 placed second in Residence Living and third in Academic Advising Staff, and Experiential Learning. The university placed fifth in Student Life Staff and Administrative Staff.
National Reputational Ranking
Queen鈥檚 placed seventh out of 49 universities in the national reputational ranking, for a fourth year in a row. This ranking brings together all universities. For the reputational ranking 惭补肠濒别补苍鈥檚 surveyed university faculty and senior administrators, and a variety of businesspeople for their views on quality and innovation at universities.
In the three categories of the ranking, Queen鈥檚 placed sixth for Highest Quality, sixth for Most Innovative, and seventh for Leaders of Tomorrow.
Program rankings
惭补肠濒别补苍鈥檚 also looked at five programs in the sciences and social sciences, assessing program reputation and research reputation. Only the top 20 were highlighted for each program, with Queen鈥檚 being ranked in each category, and making the top 10 in four of the five program rankings. Queen鈥檚 program ranking were: Business (4); Computer Science (8); Education (5); Engineering (7); Nursing (11).
