Submissions are being sought for the Principal鈥檚 Impact Courses, an initiative that encourages instructors to dream big and develop courses with the full resources and support needed to make it happen. The deadline for submissions has now been extended to April 11.
Funding of up to $10,000 will be awarded for the development of courses that directly support the goals outlined in Queen鈥檚 Strategy, including integrating teaching and research, enhancing inquiry-based learning, and enhancing local and global community connections.
The Principal鈥檚 Impact Courses are part of a long-term commitment to transform curricula by enhancing already-existing undergraduate courses or developing new courses with the purpose of supporting inquiry-based 鈥榳icked idea鈥 experiences, community impact, and the integration of research into the student experience.
鈥淭he Principal鈥檚 Impact Courses are an opportunity for course instructors to be creative and imaginative while developing an educational experience that goes above and beyond,鈥 says Principal and Vice-Chancellor Patrick Deane. 鈥淭his initiative also furthers our new strategy by supporting educational offerings that prepare students to have real impact not only in their chosen careers but throughout their lives.鈥
Funds must be used for at least two iterations of the course, though sustainable approaches that extend beyond the one-time funding are preferred.
Proposals must be submitted electronically as a PDF to the Centre for Teaching and Learning to ctl@queensu.ca by April 11, 2022.
Up to five courses will be selected to receive funding for delivery in the upcoming academic year. Applicants must hold a tenured, tenure-track or continuing appointment. The recipients will be invited to participate in teaching and learning events including a showcase celebrating teaching at Queen鈥檚.
More information about the Principal鈥檚 Impact Courses is available on the Centre for Teaching and Learning website.
