New website a hub for sustainability

The Queen鈥檚 Sustainability Office has launched a newly redesigned website to act as a hub for sustainability information at Queen鈥檚 and engage the campus community in lessening the university鈥檚 impact on the environment.

鈥淭he website is a resource for everyone, whether you want to know about energy savings, sustainable transportation options, or simply which recycling bin your coffee cup goes in,鈥 says Aaron Ball, Sustainability Manager. 鈥淲e now have sections that link users with ways they can become more active in campus sustainability, and a resource area that offers information, tips and guides through a variety of mediums such as videos and posters.鈥

The website features a new on sustainability topics, that highlight bike rack and water bottle filling station locations, downloadable , and to help green your office and reduce energy consumption. It also has an where anyone can submit a tip or project that could help make a more sustainable campus.

One of Mr. Ball鈥檚 favourite features is a new 鈥渉istory of campus sustainability鈥 timeline.

鈥淚t is one of the coolest elements of the site, illustrating the environmental journey we have been on dating back to 1904,鈥 he says. 鈥淎nd it鈥檚 a history that is still being written. We look forward to adding new sustainability initiatives to the timeline as the university undertakes new projects and reaches new milestones in the years ahead.鈥

During March, the Queen鈥檚 Sustainability Office is running a contest.  To participate, check out and follow the link to the office鈥檚 . Those that 鈥楲ike鈥 the page and post a comment about their favourite feature of the new website will be entered into a draw to win a prize.
