A new link with China

Queen鈥檚 Principal Daniel Woolf recently met with a delegation from the China University of Geosciences to solidify a partnership between the two institutions.
鈥淚 am delighted to continue building upon the strong relationship that we have fostered over the years with our counterparts in China, including this new collaboration with the distinguished China University of Geosciences,鈥 said Principal Woolf during remarks at the signing in Richardson Hall.
Wang Hongbing, University Council Chairman for the China University of Geosciences, Beijing (CUGB), signed the new agreements on behalf of CUGB and also offered remarks during the meeting.
The new agreement between Queen鈥檚 and the Beijing university includes a general memorandum of understanding with Queen鈥檚 Faculty of Arts and Science and the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science. In particular, the new agreement will make available opportunities for CUGB students to study in Queen鈥檚 Department of Geological Science and Geological Engineering.
During the visit, the Chinese delegation met with Queen鈥檚 officials in Arts and Science, and Engineering and Applied Science, took a campus tour, and enjoyed a lunch hosted by Kathy O鈥橞rien, Associate Vice-Principal (International).
Queen鈥檚 launched its in August 2015 to support its internationalization efforts. The plan鈥檚 goals include strengthening Queen鈥檚 international research engagement and creating more opportunities for student mobility through programs like academic exchange programs. The plan also aims to attract high-quality international students to Queen鈥檚 and to increase international educational opportunities on the Queen鈥檚 campus.
