Queen鈥檚 University and the Faculty of Arts and Science have introduced a new Dean鈥檚 Admission Scholarship for incoming Bachelor of Arts students. The $1,500 to $2,000 first-year scholarship is available to students with an 88.5 to 89.9 high school average.
Students will be automatically considered for this award upon application.
鈥淐anada needs more well-rounded, multi-talented arts graduates,鈥 says Susan Mumm, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science. 鈥淭o meet this need, Queen鈥檚 is establishing additional admission scholarships to attract exceptional students. As well as a financial boost, these awards will provide a symbolic 鈥榲ote of confidence鈥 in a student鈥檚 ability to succeed at Queen鈥檚.鈥
To increase both applications and acceptances from high-caliber, well-rounded students to the program, the dean has made admission scholarships the highest faculty priority.
鈥淩ecognizing and acknowledging students for what they have already achieved, and underlining their potential to go further, is a significant commitment. Such an award from Queen鈥檚 can be a valuable endorsement on a graduating student鈥檚 resume,鈥 says Dean Mumm. 鈥淲e are excited to see this available for the incoming 2015 class thanks to our alumni and donors.鈥
The goal of Queen鈥檚 is to raise funds for all forms of student assistance for undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. To date, more than $60 million has been donated toward this purpose. Currently 50 per cent of arts and science students receive some type of financial support from the university.
