The construction of the Lang Pavilion at Richardson Stadium is on track to be completed in July 2023.

The redevelopment of Richardson Stadium, with a first phase initiated in 2014, has been fully funded through philanthropic commitments from donors.

The foundations for the new structure were completed in August 2022, and the field level enclosure, which includes the north, east, and west concrete walls as well as upper and lower floor slabs, was completed in December 2022.

Crews hope to have the weatherproofing of the field level of Lang Pavilion completed by mid-February, and the installation of the upper (concourse) level structural steel, walls, and roof structure by early March. None of the ongoing work will impact the current use of Richardson Stadium and its form will soon be visible from Hargreaves Way and Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard.

Once complete, the stadium will fully enclose the field, allowing access to the east and west stands, and allow users to circumnavigate the full stadium at the concourse level. The Lang Pavilion will enhance the training and competition environment for varsity sports, as well as expand opportunities for varsity and recreation activities, make usage more gender inclusive and support a broad range of activities for students and community members, including the .

A formal opening for Lang Pavilion is being planned for the fall.
