Going green across campus

Learn about environmental conservation, sustainability across campus, and the global impact of everyday actions at Queen鈥檚 during Sustainability Week.

More than a dozen events during Queen鈥檚 Sustainability Week (Sept. 30 to Oct. 4) will showcase sustainability in all its forms.

Award-winning filmmaker, eco-activist, and TED fellow Shalini Kantayya will kick off the week as the on Monday, Oct. 1, 7 pm at Grant Hall. Her talk will explore how entrepreneurship and economic innovations can help solve some of the biggest environmental concerns of the 21st century. The event is free and registration is requested.

Also on Oct. 1, Queen鈥檚 celebrates partnering with Sustainable Kingston in Richardson Hall, Room 340 at 10:30 am. The event will include the official signing of the Green Economy Program partnership and highlight new sustainability initiatives across campus.

For Queen鈥檚 community members interested in the Climate Action Plan, the Queen鈥檚 Sustainability Office will deliver , a CAPit program update, on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Learn about the findings of the 2017 Carbon Footprint Report and what Queen鈥檚 plans to do to minimize its environmental impact by 2020, 2030, and 2040.

Booths on the corner of University Avenue and Union Street will feature student-run sustainability initiatives on Oct. 1-3 to highlight the work students are doing to support the environment at Queen鈥檚.

Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to explore, act, conserve, eat, and learn together with 17 activities in total. From a shoreline cleanup to garbage bin art, cooking classes to a trivia night, Sustainability Week covers every angle of sustainability.
