The Gaels have reached the final after finishing in fourth in the OUA Eastern Conference while the Gryphons ended the regular season fifth in the Western Conference. However, both teams have gone on golden runs in the playoffs, eliminating the top seeds to make it to the Queen鈥檚 Cup final.

In the conference finals the Gaels downed the Carleton Ravens in two games straight while the Gryphons came back to beat the Western Mustangs 2-1 after losing the series opener.

The two teams met just once in the OUA regular season with the Gryphons taking a 7-1 win in Kingston.

Both teams have qualified for the U Sports David Johnston University Cup which runs March 14-17 in Lethbridge Alta.

Puck drop is set for 7:30 pm, tickets are available while quantities last at and the game can be seen live on .
