With the reopening of Queen’s campus beginning on Monday, Feb. 28, Commuter Services would like to share a few commuting options for those who are coming back to campus, but do not have access to a parking pass.

City of Kingston Transpass Program – Free one-month trial

³ÉÈË´óƬ is a member of Kingston Transit's Employer Transpass Program. There are many benefits to participating in the program, including:

  • First month free for new transpass riders
  • Discounted rate on monthly pass ($55.25 per month*)
  • Payroll deduction payments
  • Unlimited monthly bus rides, including express routes
  • A more environmentally-friendly and less expensive way to commute
  • Option to put your parking permit on hold for 2 months while you try transit
  • It’s fast and easy - find your route here
  • A new daily parking rate allows flexibility if you must drive sometimes for $10/day – see below

Don't forget that city buses in Kingston offer rack-and-roll bike racks all year round.

Kingston Transit’s Adam Pennock will be on campus to help register and assist in planning your route on March 8 and 10 from 10 am-2 pm at the Biosciences Atrium and March 22 and 24 at Mackintosh-Corry Student Street from 10 am-2 pm.

Kingston Transit offers personalized support to obtain a Transpass. To enroll in the program, and get more information about route planning, contact Adam Pennock at apennock@cityofkingston.ca .

Daily Surface Parking

Queen’s University is offering $10/day surface parking at select locations when paying with the HONK Mobile App at Pay & Display machines. This option provides flexibility and supports the uptake of alternative transportation by making affordable parking available to those who need it infrequently.

Cycling

If you plan to cycle, Queen’s is a cycle-friendly campus, with more than 400 bike racks and a secure bike storage facility.

Alternative and Active Transportation options are a great way to reduce GHG emissions and protect the environment.

Have you ever been interested in seeing the impact of choosing one form of transportation over another? If so, check out the alternative transportation calculator.
